Chapter 1: School bus licence
In Ontario, driving a school bus requires a special licence, either a Class B or a Class E. Applicants must already hold a valid G-class driver’s licence and meet specific medical and vision standards.

They must also complete a Ministry-approved school bus driver training program and pass both written and road tests. Additionally, a clear criminal record check and a vulnerable sector screening are mandatory. School bus drivers play a crucial role in student safety, so Ontario maintains strict requirements to ensure only qualified individuals transport children. Regular renewals and ongoing training are also required for licence holders.
