Series 5-21: Extreme Behavioural Issues
The “Extreme Behavioural Issues” section of the Alberta School Bus Knowledge Test prepares drivers to handle challenging situations involving student conduct.
Drivers must recognize signs of extreme behavioural problems, such as aggression, violence, or severe defiance, and respond calmly and appropriately. The test covers strategies for de-escalation, maintaining a safe environment, and following school policies for reporting incidents. Effective communication with students, school staff, and parents is essential. Drivers are also evaluated on their ability to prioritize safety, protect all passengers, and seek assistance when necessary. This section ensures drivers are equipped to manage difficult situations with professionalism and care.
